POL 223-60
President John F. Kennedy's death was covered by the media because of the iconic film footage taken by Abraham Zapruder (228). This public fascination with this iconic footage both inspired others to create works that both honored and portrayed JFK's death (228-9). As seen in the video reenacted by the activists group Ant Farm and T.R. Uthco, http://vimeo.com/53734504 (229). There is even a reference to JFK's death in the movie X-Men Days of Future Past in which the Character Magneto who is a mutant that manipulates metal played by Michael Fassbender is held captive because he was accused of assassinating JFK but reveals to the audience that he tried to stop the assassination but failed. This shows that anyone can be subject to the media and popular culture (229).
