George Lakoff Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things

When categorizing something that looks like a tree we are instantly categorizing it (5). But by doing this it helps us understand the world around us. Lakoff states that to understand how we categorize is important because it helps us understand what makes us human (6). It's crucial that we know the difference between categories of things and categories of abstract entities (6). For example categories of things can be clothing, animals and physical objects (6). An example that I first thought of for abstract entities was math. Math to me is probably the hardest thing to do and I'm sure most would agree on that. Overall, we categorize many things in our world but it it's important to know the difference between concrete and abstract categorization (6).
